Sneaky Peak

Today has been spend working on a seating plan for a friends wedding and this is a sneaky peak of a bit of it. I know that the lovely Sarah and Aaron will not mind me showing this bit as it was taken from their invitations so has already been seen. (More Sofa's tomorrow!)

Patchwork Sofa

Ok, so there may be a theme developing! I adore the idea of a patchwork sofa....Chris, on the other hand, thinks they are completely hideous! (Clearly the man has no taste!).
I think I'm going to have a play about with this idea...

Sofa - Line Drawing

Our sofa has just not been the same since we moved! I'm finding it increasingly uncomfortable to sit on and so have started dreaming of a new sofa! (Yes, I am aware just how sad that is and, to be honest, I don't care!)

Sunflower

I do love what I do in my day job but sometimes I find it very depressing! Today I discovered that, despite it being proven that people with dementia are willing and able to comment on their care (even those with limited verbal communication skills), the majority of studies involving people with dementia are all about 'improving their behaviours' rather than about improving the system and very few of them involved getting the view of the person with dementia. *sigh*
Sunflowers always make me smile and today I felt like I needed to smile!

Its A Mugs Game

I tried out porcelain pens today! The ones I have are too thick to really get the image I was wanting so I think I will go online and see if I can track down thinner ones or perhaps porcelain paint would be a better option. Anyway, I had a play and I had fun which, after the frustrating day I had not being able to access certain academic journals, was just what I needed :-)

Out And About # 8

This is by far my favourite! He looks quite ugly but I like him and I like how he's turned out!

Out And About # 7

Too much detail in this one! The hair feels overworked...
but I do like her nose!

C for Colleen (Finished)

And here is the finished one mounted (and framed but you can't see that!). I added her name in the cube and, I'm not sure if you can see it, a message from her Mum and Dad in binary at the bottom (She can go online, input the 1's and 0's to get the message).

I really enjoyed doing this and it's given me an idea. I'm thinking that I might do the entire alphabet and offer personalisation of them on my etsy shop. What do you think?
(Might make good Christmas presents!)

C for Colleen (Rough)

I've been commissioned to do a pen and ink 'C for Colleen' as a birthday present. She loves Escher and her Dad asked me to do something that gives a nod to him. This is the rough I came up with...at that point I had not quite worked out how I was going to frame it but this was my starting point.

(I'm putting this up retrospectively.
It is her birthday today so she will already have seen the finished article :-D)

Out And About # 6

He just looked a bit shifty and I'm quite pleased cause he looks a bit shifty in the drawing too!

Out And About # 5

This is a little better but she has scary eyebrows
(the woman it's based on didn't have scary eyebrows! Although, it does look like her!)

Out And About # 4

Oh dear lord! *laughs*
These are getting worse instead of better!

Out And About # 3

Hmmm, think it's going to take some time to get better at these!

Out And About # 2

She was rather funky and I couldn't resist drawing her.

(Yup, was definitely right about the shit drawings coming up...
oh well...I did say I would share the good, bad and ugly!)

Out And About # 1

I am going to have a go at drawing people over the next few days. They are not my strong point by any stretch of the imagination but my idea is that if I do enough of them I will develop my own style and not be quite so scared of drawing them.

(I have a sneaky suspicion that the next few pics might be a bit shit! You have been warned!)

I Love My DMs

I think the title of this says it all! I really do LOVE my DMs!

Woman Reading # 2 (BCD Painting)

Woman Reading minus splat on mouth
(now she just looks like she has a massive mole on her eyebrow!)

The Laptop (BCD Painting)

Am still working away on my Dementia report so thought it appropriate to draw the
laptop sitting on the table!

For Angela

I will give you this when I see you next week.

I hope you like it.

Window (BCD Painting)

Yup, still messing about with ink and splatters
(Just got to make sure that I manage not to hit fat white cat on his way past!)

On The Other Side Of Darkness

Got some not so great news about a very good friend of mine tonight. In the three months since he stopped his chemo the tumours have grown back to the size they were before he started. *sigh*.
He starts chemo again next Monday.
We were really hoping that there would be no change!

Woman Reading (BCD Painting)

Yup, am enjoying this technique so much I decided to have another go with the other drawing I did whilst sitting at the station. This hasn't turned out quite so well...I got an ink splodge on her lips and now she looks a bit like she's been punched in the face! Oh well, I did say I would share the good, bad and the ugly here...and I think she falls into the ugly category!

Am now off to see Andy Hamilton at the Theatre. Hope he's good!

Man Reading (BCD Painting)

I enjoyed doing yesterday's so much that I decided to re-visit one of my old BCD drawings. This is the new version of 'Man Reading'.
I think this has turned out pretty well.

Ralph Steadman Tribute # 2

Yup, knew this would look better if I used something different for the line and added some splatters. I used the end of my paintbrush to do this so I had no control over how much ink flowed on the lines. Really enjoyed doing this :-)

Ralph Steadman Tribute (BCD)

I have, after waiting 10 years, finally put my Ralph Steadman lampshades back up. I ADORE his work...I think it might have something to do with the fact that it is so completely and totally different to the type of stuff I do. I looked at the lampshade and thought 'I have to do something to commemorate this day' so decided to do a BCD of it (as you do!). So here it is...my tribute to Ralph Steadman

Literature Review

I am currently working on doing a literature review for my dementia research project. I spent the day searching the internet trying to find relevant information for the study. Some of the stuff I found was useful...other stuff...not so much! I decided to try and capture that process in today's drawing. The arrows depict my searches and the 0110 bit actually says 'Literature Review' in binary code.

(Don't know what happened to the light when I was taking the photo of this.
It's pen and ink on white paper)

Cartoon Faces

What can I say?
I just felt like doodling today and thought I would have a go at doing some funny faces!

Pot (Blind Contour Drawing)

We're still trying to get the house sorted out (It's getting there) but I found this pot we bought in Thailand so thought I would draw it today!

Bacteria

Well, it started off as a fish and then it all kind of went a bit pete tong (rhyming slang for a bit wrong) so I decided to turn it into a bacteria (as you do!)
